Packaging ecodesign – A modernized portal to provide better guidance for companies
As the Quebec curbside recycling system undergoes major changes, businesses will become responsible for managing the end-of-life cycle for containers, packaging, printed matter and newspaper (C, P, PM & N) they put on the market. Therefore, it’s a good time for them to rethink their C, P, PM & N and make sure they limit their impact on the environment.
That’s why Éco Entreprises Québec is launching a revamped version of its Ecodesign Portal, which helps businesses who are interested in carrying out an ecodesign initiative to lay a solid foundation that will ensure their project’s success.
For over 10 years, the Ecodesign and Circular Economy Team at Éco Entreprises Québec has contributed to democratizing packaging ecodesign by providing a personalized assistance service and training, as well as resources who specialize in the field.
“The main goal is to gather a maximum of information and expertise on the subject and organize it in a simple and accessible manner, in order to provide businesses with a “one-stop-shop” to carry out their initiative.” – Geneviève Dionne, Director, Ecodesign and Circular Economy.
Also, in order to encourage companies to continue their packaging ecodesign efforts and implement a true circular economy for recyclable materials, ÉEQ further develops the Schedule of Contributions so that it takes into account the impact of a material across the value chain (eco-modulation measures).
Indeed, Ecodesign is one of the main pillars of the modernization of curbside recycling, on which ÉEQ is working in collaboration with all partners in the industry.
