Circular economy of plastics: ÉEQ proud to support CTP’s initiative
The Circular Plastics Taskforce (CTP) presented today the achievement of Phase 1 of its major initiative regarding a circular economy for plastics in Quebec and Canada.
Éco Entreprises Québec is proud to be a member of the steering committee and to have provided financial and technical support for this study, which will help create winning conditions for better recycling of materials and give the players involved the ability to do so.
“The CPT’s findings are major elements in our own reflection on plastics as part of curbside recycling modernization project. Our investment demonstrates our desire to go further together in the recovery of plastics in Quebec and to rely on collaboration. ”
– Maryse Vermette, CEO, ÉEQ
The findings and recommendations put forward in the CPT White Paper will serve as the basis for Phase 2 to implement solutions and projects in which ÉEQ intends to actively participate.
Among the recommendations:
- Identify the market’s needs for recyclers and sorting centers
- Set clear quality standards
- Foster collaborative work through long-term agreements with members of the value chain
- Implement traceability and certification methods to ensure better monitoring and strengthening of the system
ÉEQ is represented on the PCT Steering Committee by Normand Gadoury, Director of Market Development and Sorting Technologies, who works in conjunction with the other members of the Steering Committee, Advisors and Associates.
Collaboration is an essential element towards the development and implementation of sustainable solutions for all plastics used in containers and packaging.
