ÉEQ winner in the innovation category of the Entreprises citoyennes competition for its creation of OptimEco.ca!
It is with great pride that Éco Entreprises Québec yesterday received first prize in the Innovation category in the Entreprises citoyennes competition organized by Novae for the creation of EEQ’s OptimEco.ca portal. Of almost 100 initiatives in competition, nine projects were rewarded for the excellence of their business practices with a focus on and consideration for the social and environmental factors at play.
OptimEco.ca is the first packaging optimization portal in Canada which, within the framework of extended producer responsibility (EPR) linked to containers, packaging and printed matter (CP&PM), supports and equips businesses which manufacture, design and distribute CP&PM. The portal offers strategies based on the life cycle analysis for packaging, as well as providing an interactive tool, OptimAction which aims to measure and substantiate the economic savings gleaned from these initiatives. OptimEco.ca not only generates savings, it also reduces the environmental footprint for a business, as well as for the global curbside recycling system, notably due to reduction at the source and through the use of recyclable materials.
The selection jury included Fabien Durif of l’Observatoire de la consommation responsable (OCR), Daniel Normandin of l’Institut de l’environnement, du développement durable et de l’économie circulaire, Pierre Lussier of Jour de la Terre Québec, Anna Walkowiak of RECYC-QUÉBEC, Isabelle Verreault d’Acertys and Sylvie-Nuria Noguer of Cariatis.
Please note the exceptional work carried out by ÉEQ employees in the development of the portal, as well as the undeniable contributions of our business partners as expert consultants in the project; Quantis Canada, expert in life cycle analysis, and the Institut de développement de produits, experts in ecological design.
