EnviroLys Gala 2021: Éco Entreprises Québec presents the Projet Vert ICI + award
On November 15th, Éco Entreprises Québec presented the Projet Vert ICI + award during the EnviroLys Gala, organized by the Conseil des entreprises en technologies environnementales du Québec (CETEQ).
The prize was awarded to Avril Supermarché Santé for their at source sorting system found across their Quebec branches, and for their distribution centre’s centralized waste collection.
Each branch sorts through recyclable materials and organic waste. The materials are then returned to the distribution centre by delivery trucks, which curbs the need for additional transport.
This recycling system has proven efficient, since materials are sorted adequately through this process. For example, collecting and retrieving organic materials (OM) at the distribution centre will allow the system to recover and compost:
- Up to 65% of OMs from supermarkets
- Up to 90% of OMs from kitchens
ÉEQ would also like to highlight the hard work from the Gala’s finalists:
- TC Transcontinental for creating a new Recycling Group for flexible plastics, which actively promotes the development of a circular economy
- Nespresso Canada for their recycling program, which allows their consumers to recycle aluminium pods via curbside recycling
The EnviroLys Gala—of which ÉEQ is a proud partner—aims to recognize and celebrate private sector expertise in the green economy as well as the entrepreneurship and innovation of environmental services.
Congratulations to all the finalists and award recipients!
